A Little Late but Happy Holidays

Hello Students!!! Well I meant to write this post about a week ago but things got a little interesting in my family. My brother and his wife had a baby girl on the 22nd of December. The baby was about a month early but completely healthy. So we got to spend a few days in the hospital with them and the baby. They were all able to come home for Christmas. This was an awesome event for our entire family. I look forward to telling you all about it when we get back to school next week. I hope that you are all having a fantastic break and enjoying some time with your families. Have a safe New Years and I will see you in 2011.

Stamps Up For Grabs

Hello Students-

I am offering a stamp to any student that leaves a comment in the comments section. Make sure to leave your name so I know who to give the stamp to. See, that easy. Don't forget to read below for this weeks events.

Mr. Williams

Week of September 6, 2010

We have a short but very busy week to look forward to. On Tuesday, we will be welcoming several new students into our classroom. We look forward to meeting them and having them join our classroom.

In Language Arts we will continue to work on our first story of the year Earthquake Terror. This is a realist fiction story about the Loma Prieta Earthquake that hit our area in 1989. Last week the students saw videos about the earthquake as well as other natural disasters.

In Math we are working on algebra and will be completing our first chapter by the end of the week. We will have a test on this information early next week. Starting on Thursday we will begin our JiJi Math program. This computer based program is a fantastic new math resource that will help the students with their math skills. It is designed to challenge all learning ability levels.

We will also continue our study of the U.S. Constitution in preparation for our class elections next month.

The week will conclude with an Awards Assembly recognizing those students that performed well on the CST last school year. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend this assembly; Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Gym.

I look forward to a great week with lots of learning.

Math Homework Help Page 11

Page 11 help

For questions 3 thru 6 you need to find what will make the table true. This is where you need to know your multiplication tables as well as addition and subtraction.

So for 3 you see that the answer is higher so you are either adding or multiplying

So try 4 and 8. You either add 4 or multiply by 2.

Now try adding 4 or multiply 2 to 3 and 6. Which works?

Finally check your answer using 12 and 24.

Here is a video clip from another teacher that might be able to help you out. Click on the link and it should work.

Math Homework Question

I know there are some questions on the homework. I will attempt to help with your questions here.

On number three the question reads:

3n + m

We know that n = 15 and m = 3.

You must rewrite the problem to look like this:

3 x 15 + 3

From here you follow the order of operations.

I hope this helps. If not leave me a note and I will try and help.
